Telangana registers record 6,542 fresh COVID-19 cases, 20 fatalities until Tuesday night
Hyderabad, April 21 : Coronavirus Cases continue to accelerate in Telangana as the state witnessed yet another record rise in daily COVID-19 cases with a whopping 6,542 fresh infection cases being reported until 2000 hours on Tuesday to take the cumulative caseload to 3,67,901 so far.
The state also suffered a record 20 fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the death toll till date to 1,876, translating a case fatality rate of 0.50 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.2 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here today.
As many as 2,887 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide as of yesterday pushing the total number of recoveries thus far to 3,19,537 constituting a recovery rate of 86.85 per cent while the National recovery rate was 85 per cent.
Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 46,488, the bulletin said.
In all, 1,30,105 swab samples were tested in the state between Monday and Tuesday to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 6,242 swab samples are awaited.
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, more than 1.30 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.
The worst affected Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation continued to be the major contributor of the infection by reporting a maximum 898 Coronavirus cases followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district 570, Rangareddy district 532, Nizamabad district 427, Sangareddy district 320, Nalgonda district 285, Mahaboobnagar district 263, Khammam district 246, Warangal Urban district 244, Kamareddy district 235, Jagityal district 230, Karimangar district 203, Mancherial district 176, Siddipet district 147, Nirmal district 143, Yadadri Bhonigir district 140, Vikarabad district 135, Medak and Nagarkurnool districts 131 each, Suryapet district 130, Bhadradri Kothagudem district 128 and Rajanna Sircilla district 124.
The remaining new COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
