Hyderabad, Jan 5 : Telangana recorded 1520 fresh Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of Covid-19 cases in the state to 6,85,543, the state health department said Today.

Besides, one patient also died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll due to the virus rose to 4,034 till date. Now, the death rate stands at 0.58 per cent, according to the bulletin issued by the Office of the Director, Public Health and Family Welfare here on Wednesday.

As many as 209 people have recovered from Coronavirus statewide in the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries to 6,75,341, constituting a recovery rate of 98.51 per cent.

Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 6,168, the bulletin added.

In all, 42,531 samples were tested on Wednesday in the state to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 7,039 swab samples are awaited.

Cumulatively, more than 2,98,83,141 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Among the districts, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remaining the main contributor of the infection, recording 979 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, followed by Rangareddy (174) , Medical Malkangiri (132), Sagareddy (26), Khammam (21) Suryapet (16), Bhadradri Kothagudem (16), Nizmabad (16), Mahabubabad (13), Hanumakonda (13),Karimnagar (12), Siddipet (10).

The day’s remaining coronavirus cases have been reported by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
