Telangana records 194 fresh COVID-19 cases, 3 fatalities until Wednesday night

Hyderabad, Mar 11 : Continuing its daily tally, Telangana registered 194 new COVID-19 cases until 2000 hours on Wednesday taking the total infection count to 3,00,536 so far.

The COVID-19 deaths surged to 1,649 with three people succumbing to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 percent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 percent, according to a state health department bulletin on Thursday.

As many as 116 people have recuperated from coronavirus statewide during the past 24 hours as of Wednesday pushing the overall recoveries to date to 2,97,032 constituting a recovery rate of 98.83 percent while the national average was 96,9 percent.

Active cases in the state currently stand at 1,855 including 730 individuals in the home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 37,904 samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 525 swab samples are pending.

As of Wednesday, more than 90.93 lakhs of COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation being the main contributor of the infection reported a maximum of 35 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Rangareddy (16) and Medchal Malkajgiri (14).

The day’s remaining coronavirus infections were reported by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
