Telangana Police stands as role model for the entire country : Minister
Hyderabad, Mar 21 : Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Sunday said that the state police stands as a role model for the entire country.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the second Bharosa Centre at Zehranagar in the Police Station limits of Mirchowk, Mr Ali said that after the achievement of separate statehood of Telangana, the government has paid special attention to law and order and has taken steps accordingly.
He stated that installation of CCTV cameras have brought very good results.
‘She teams’ were working very well for the safety of women which was the initiative of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Minister said.
Mr Ali said that the problems of women are being addressed quickly with the establishment of Bharosa Centers.
The second Bharosa Centre at Zahranagar in the Old City would be constructed soon, he added.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that the police did a commendable job during the lockdown.” Our Holy Quran also teaches that women should be respected. It is not right to harass women and attack them”, he maintained.
Mr Owaisi said that the Bharosa Centre is not needed in the old city but women need protection in the present circumstances. Corona was on the rise again and hence people need to be careful, he said.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the laying foundation stone programme of Bharosa Centre was held today as part of the Telangana Government’s Safe City project.
The state police has set up a ‘She Teams’ to provide security to women and assist them in case of any problems.
The Commissioner said that in 60 per cent of the cases at Bharosa Centre in Saifabad, the accused were convicted during the last 3-4 years. The construction of Zehranagar Bharosa Centre building would be completed within 12 months.
Mr Kumar said, “ Women can call ‘Dial 100’ immediately if they have any problems.
The police will reach them within 10 minutes. The safety of women is very important at the present juncture. That is why the Telangana police are working very hard. Hyderabad is the safest city in the country. The number of atrocities against women is very low. She Teams are registering cases for harassment of women. We are changing those who are harassing them by giving counseling”, he said.
Ms Shikha Goel, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) said that the Bharosa Centre, Saifabad was set up five years ago. So far we have been able to save 1000 victims.
