Telangana Minister asks officials to speed up construction of cattle

Hyderabad, April 19 : Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Telasani Srinivas Yadav has asked the officials to speed up the construction of cattle and sheep sheds under the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NAREGA).

The Minister who held a review meeting here on Monday said that the government has taken a decision to construct cattle and sheep sheds (each shed to be constructed at a cost of Rs 57,000) in the state. 6,453 applications were received in this regard so far. Of them 3,631 sheds construction were completed. Remaining would be completed soon, he said and asked the officials to create awareness among the farmers how to utilize the sheds, an official release here said.

Stating that the government has sanctioned Rs 3000 crore for the second phase of sheep distribution programme starting from June 2, the Minister asked the officials to take necessary steps in this regard.

He stated that 77.06 sheep were distributed to 3,66,976 beneficiaries in the first phase. The Minister stated that sheep markets would be constructed in all the districts. The construction works have already been started in Peddapalli, Kamareddy, Khammam and Wanaparthy. Rest of them constructed on war footing once after procuring land, the Minister said.(UNI)
