Telangana logs 1,097 fresh COVID-19 cases, six fatalities until Sunday night
Hyderabad, April 5: As the daily Coronavirus cases continue to accelerate during the second wave of the pandemic in Telangana, the state’s tally of COVID-19 cases has risen to 3,13,237 till date with 1,097 new infections being recorded until 2000 hours on Sunday.
The death toll in the state rose to 1,723 so far with six patients succumbing to the deadly virus in the past 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.55 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Monday.
The total number of recoveries have surged to 3,02,768 so far as 268 people have recuperated from Coronavirus statewide as of Sunday constituting a recovery rate of 96.65 per cent while the National recovery rate was 92.8 per cent.
The active cases in the state currently stand at 8,746 including 4,458 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
About 43,070 swab samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the results of 1,965 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, more than one crore four lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The worst-hit Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), being the main contributor of the infection, reported a maximum of 302 fresh Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district (138), Rangareddy district (116) and Nizamabad district (77).
The remaining new COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
