Telangana HM flags off 27 SHE bikes of SHE teams
Hyderabad, April 19 : Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Monday flagged off 27 SHE bikes of SHE teams at Goshamahal Police station.
A total of 60 SHE bikes have been acquired under the Safe City Project. Of them 27, 17 and 16 were allocated to Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates.
The addition of these unmarked bike-mounted SHE Teams personnel who will carry out incognito surveillance and also participate in outreach and branding activities on a need basis is expected to strengthen the anti-eve teasing mechanism in the city, a police release here said.
The primary aim of SHE Teams is to make the city public spaces safe for all women and children and to reduce incidents of sexual violence against women.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the sustained efforts of Hyderabad SHE Teams in bringing offenders to the book and supporting the cause of women’s safety.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that this step would help in strengthening the SHE Teams’ capability of quickly responding to instances of eve-teasing in public places in larger numbers. He requested citizens to come forward with their complaints through the various channels available like Dial 100, Whatsapp, Facebook, and not to suffer in silence at any cost.
Ms. Shikha Goel, Addl. CP Crimes & SIT and SHE Teams in charge stated that since inception, SHE Teams of Hyderabad could positively impact the lives of over 8000 complaints.
She lauded the brave women of Hyderabad who chose to enforce their right to public spaces free of the malaise of eve-teasing and raised their voice with the help of SHE Teams.
She added that this induction of new bikes in SHE Teams will enhance the capacity of SHE Teams to reach out to victims much faster than before and also in catching hold of offenders of eve-teasing in public places.(UNI)
