Telangana HC dismisses PILs seeking suspension of EC order on Dalit Bandhu scheme

Hyderabad,Oct 28 : Telangana High Court on Thursday dismissed Public Interest Ligitations (PILs), seeking suspension of the Election Commission order to put on hold the implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme in Huzurabad Assembly Constituency till the completion of the byelection process.

A Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice A.Rajashekar Reddy, after hearing the PILs, refused to interfere with the EC order as the Commission has the power to ensure free and fair polls.

The bench dismissed the PILs filed by journalist Mallepalli Laxmaiah and Congress leader B.Judson.

It may be mentioned that the Election Commission on October 18 had directed the state government to defer the implementation of the scheme till the completion of the byelection to be held on October 30.

The scheme was launched on a pilot basis in Huzurabad in August this year.(UNI)
