Telangana Govt should allow new applications for issuing Ration cards: TPCC

Hyderabad, Jun 9 : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) official spokesperson G Niranjan Reddy Today said the state government should allow new applications for issuing Ration cards.
While welcoming the State cabinet decision to provide ration cards to all the eligible applicants numbering 4,46,169, whose applications have been pending for a longer period, Mr Niranjan, also the AICC member, urged the state government to provide an opportunity for fresh applications as thousands of households are not having ration cards and they are forced to purchase the ration in the open market.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, a copy of which was released to media here, he said that the names of many members of the houses were deleted from the ration cards irrationally by the officials and added that the Government has to instruct the concerned to enquire and include all those deleted names.
“Though the priority should be given to people belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) in providing ration, in future, it may necessitate, taking care of other sections of the people irrespective of rich or poor during this sort of pandemic situations”, the Congress leader said.
Stating that the Government should consider providing ration cards to all citizens to make ourselves prepared to face future challenges, the AICC member said the immediate attention of the Chief Minister is necessary and also for taking a decision in this regard.(UNI)
