Telangana Governor: Economic prosperity must be driven by youth.

HYDERABAD, JAN 3 : Telangana Governor Vishnu Dev Verma has emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping the economic future of India.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of the School of Post Graduate Studies at the Engineering Staff College of India on Friday, the Governor highlighted the importance of skill development and adaptability to emerging technologies in a rapidly evolving world.

Governor Verma reflected on the inspirational slogans “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” by Lal Bahadur Shastri, “Jai Vigyan” by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and “Jai Anusandhan” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encouraging youth to harness their potential.

He urged young people to acquire skills in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Machine Learning, which are at the forefront of global innovation.

“Dream Big, Achieve Big,” he said, urging graduates to embrace innovation and draw inspiration from leaders like Nelson Mandela, Swami Vivekananda, and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy. By channeling their energy and education, the Governor said, youth could transform India’s economic landscape and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

During the ceremony, the Governor awarded gold and silver medals and certificates of appreciation to meritorious students. Graduates took an oath to dedicate their education to the nation’s progress.

V B Singh, President of the Institution of Engineers, lauded the institution’s contributions to engineering education. He noted that the Institution, founded in Kolkata in 1920, has expanded to 125 cities across India and boasts over 260,000 engineer members, driving technological and economic advancements.

Dr G Rameshwar Rao, Director of the Engineering Staff College of India, shared that the college trains over 7,000 engineers annually across 12 departments. Inaugurated in 1981 by the then-President Dr. R. Venkataraman, the institution is the only one of its kind in Asia.

Dr Jagannathan Mohan Reddy, Principal of the School of Post Graduate Studies, highlighted the school’s achievements since its inception in 2008, noting that 144 graduates received their certificates at the ceremony.

The event also honoured students trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Military Engineering Service, who received certificates and awards.
