Telangana CM demands withdrawal of cases against farmers who agitated against the farm laws

Hyderabad, Nov 20 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Today demanded withdrawal of cases against the farmers who took part in the long-drawn struggle demanding repeal of the controversial farm laws.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party office, here tonight, he said that more than 700-750 farmers had lost their lives during the anti-farm laws agitation.

Mr Rao announced Rs three lakhs each aid to the families of the farmers who sacrificed their lives during the agitation and demanded that the Centre should also pay Rs 25 lakhs each to the bereaved families of the farmers.

He congratulated the farmers for achieving victory over the three controversial farm laws.

The Chief Minister also demanded the Centre to bring Minimum Support Price (MSP) Act for the benefit of the farmers of the country. The Act must be introduced in the next Parliament session itself, he demanded.

Mr Rao also urged the Centre to withdraw the proposed new Electricity Bill which he said is anti-farmers. For the benefit of the farmers, some of the states were extending free quality power of 24X7 to the farmers. The new Electricity Bill will affect it. “ We are opposing new electricity and demanding the Centre to withdraw it”, he added.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the water share of Krishna Godavari rivers, the Chief Minister demanded the Centre to clarify the state’s water share in Krishna and Godavari rivers.(UNI)
