Telangana a role model in farmers’ welfare schemes : Minister
Sircilla, Feb 18 : Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday claimed that the state was a role model for the country in implementing schemes for the welfare of farmers. Speaking after inaugurating “Rythu Vedika” (Farmers platform) at Baddenapalli in this district, Mr Rao said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was constructing 2,603 Rythu Vediakas (farmers’ platforms) across the state and nowhere it has been done in the country. This initiative will bring farmers under one platform that will help them in attaining a high number of returns in agriculture. “Changes taking place in agriculture will be discussed on the basis of what kind of crop is profitable and what is in demand in the market”, the Minister said. “We have set up a cluster of 5,000 acres which is nowhere in the country and appointed agricultural extension officers to extend new ideas related to the agriculture sector”, Mr Rao said we are implementing programmes like Rythu Bandu, Rythu Bheema, Mission Bhagirath, 24X7 free power supply to the agriculture sector which has not been implemented anywhere in the country. He said that the groundwater level has been increased to 6 metres due to Kaleswaram irrigation project. (UNI)
