Spurned lover acquitted of brutal killing of girlfriend
Thane, Jun 29 : A 32 year old man from New Tadali of Bhiwandi, the spurned lover who was tried for an offence of brutally killing his girl friend aged 17, then has been given the benefit of doubts and acquitted by the district court here on Tuesday.
The District and Sessions Judge HM Patwardhan held that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the charges under sections 302 and 449 of the IPC against the accused Roopji Sahani, who needs to be set free and hence acquitted him of the charges.
The prosecution told the court that the alleged accused was in love with a girl from the same locality then aged 17 and wanted her to accede to his demands.
It was one month prior to the ill-fated incident he stopped her midway and asked her to come with him which she refused.
As a result of the refusal it was in the early hours at around 3.00 a.m. on September 17,2014 while the victim was sleeping in her house along with her sister the accused banged the door and broke it open and trespassed into it.
He questioned as to why the victim refused to accompany him and later dragged her out of the house and after locking the house from outside beat her and stabbed her several times killing her on the spot the court was told.
He has also locked a couple of houses in the locality from outside.
Appearing for the accused advocate Poonit Mahimkar contested the case and totally dismissed the case as false and baseless and wanted the accused to be given the benefit of doubts and acquit him.
The judge after hearing both the parties finally decided that there was no no case made out and hence acquitted the accused.(UNI)
