Spirit theft case : Police team to leave for MP, Officials in government firm missing

Pathanamthitta, Jul 3 : The police team, probing the diversion of 20,386 litres of spirit of a government firm, will leave for Madhya Pradesh to trace the routes through which the material was illegally diverted.
Alex P Abraham, General Manager, U Shahim, Personal Manager and Megha Murali, Production Manager of Travancore Sugars and Chemicals Limited, engaged in the manufacture of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, at Pulikeezh here are missing, police said Today.
The absence of senior officials brought the operations of the company to a halt on Friday. Two truck drivers and a company official were arrested over the theft.
Preliminary assessment indicated that the accused had sold the spirit to a local distilling unit in Sendhwa region in Barwani district.
The theft came to light during a preliminary investigation by the Excise Department which had taken truck drivers into custody.(UNI)
