Southwest monsoon advances into some parts of South Bay of Bengal

Hyderabad, May 21 : In view of strengthening of Southwesterlies in the lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity and persistent cloudiness over the area, Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of South Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands, entire south Andaman Sea and some parts of north Andaman Sea Today Meteorological Centre said.

In a special bulletin here, it said the cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast & adjoining Central Bay of Bengal between 3.1 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level.

Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is very likely to form over East-central Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea around May 22.

It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 24.

It very likely to move Northwestwards and reach Odisha-West Bengal Coast around May 26 morning, the bulletin added.(UNI)
