South Central Railway to run 150 Kisan Rails since its launch in January
Nanded, May 12 (UNI) The 150th Kisan Rail loaded with 246 tonnes of onions and destined for Malda town in West Bengal has started from Nagarsol in Maharashtra on May 10.
The success of the Kisan Rail initiative can be gauged from the fact that, from the time it was introduced, there has been a continuous demand for the trains.
Overall, total 47,957 tonnes of agricultural produce has been transported by these Kisan Rails from Nagarsol since its launch from a single location in South Central Railway on January 5.
The commodities transported include onions, water melons and grapes.
These have been transported to various places like Adarsh Nagar in New Delhi, New Guwahati, Malda Town, Agartala, Fatuha and New Jalpaiguri, among others.
General manager of the South Central Railway Gajanan Mallya complimented the team of Nanded Division in transporting 150 Kisan Rails in a short span of 126 days, an official release said here today.(UNI)
