Shiv Sena to contest 22 seats in Goa Assembly Polls: Sanjay Raut

Panaji, Sep 29 :Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha member Sanajay Raut today announced that the party would contest 22 out of the 40 assembly seats in Goa.

Speaking to reporters after arriving at Goa International Airport at Dabolim in South Goa, the Shiv Sena leader said, ‘Shiv Sena will contest 22 seats. We will give it all. We do not want an alliance. Our organisation is strong enough. If Trinamool Congress from Kolkata can contest in Goa, then Maharashtra is right alongside. You have seen how well we have performed in Maharashtra.

Asked about the possible alliance ahead of the assembly elections due early next years, the Rajya Sabha member said though many leaders were meeting him but the party had not received any proposal for alliance from any political party.

‘Vijay Sardesai (Goa Forward Party President), (Subhash) Velingkar (former RSS leader), and other leaders are meeting me,” he said.

Shiv Sena had contested 2017 assembly elections in alliance with Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) but could not win any seat.(UNI)
