Shah holds security review meeting in Jagdalpur
New Delhi, April 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Monday held a security review meeting at Jagdalpur with the State police officials and Central forces.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was also present at the meeting.
Mr. Shah took a stock of the situation after the encounter which broke out on Saturday afternoon, killing 22 security personnel in a fierce gun battle with the Maoists.
CRPF DG Kuldeep Singh, who has been camping at the encounter site since yesterday, briefed the Home Minister about the details of the incident and also discussed further strategies to take this operation forward with more intensity.
Chhattisgarh DGP and Special DG of anti-Naxal of the state also submitted a report and briefed the Home Minister and explained the following definite information and probable location of the dreaded Naxal commander Hidma, the joint operation was launched with CRPF’s tactical force CoBRA and unit from Bastaria battalion.
Mr. Shah has asked the security forces involved in the operation against Maoists to chalk out a re-calibrated strategy to make an offensive counter-attack on the Maoist cadre, an official in the security setup said.
An official in the security setup said that the top officials of the state police and the CRPF were of the strong opinion to continue the Naxal operation with a strong resolute to take the ongoing anti-Naxal operation to a logical conclusion and also pleaded the Home Minister to continue the same.
Mr. Shah assured them all support from the Centre in this operation, he added.
The administrative officials of the Naxal affected districts were also present and briefed the Home Minister about the development works being done in the core areas.

Earlier the day, on his arrival at Jagdalpur, Mr. Shah paid homage to 22 martyrs of the security forces along with Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and instructed the officials to make proper arrangements for the transportation of the mortal remains to their home.
The Home Minister will also meet the injured security personnel in Raipur hospital today. (UNI)
