Mumbai, Jan 18 : Actress Shabana Azmi Today  recalled her near-fatal road accident two years ago, when she almost died on the Mumbai- Pune Expressway after her car rammed into the rear of a truck.

In the aftermath of the January 18, 2020 accident Shabana had suffered serious injuries and was immediately taken to hospital, where she recovered in about a month.

Remembering her accident, she took to Twitter to recount her close waltz with death and thanked all those who showed her concern and prayed for her safety, including the team of doctors who helped her recover and actress Tina Ambani.

She tweeted:

“2 years ago at around this time I had that life threatening motor accident.

“Thank you to all the people who prayed for my recovery n surrounded me with love and concern.

“I feel blessed.

“Thank you to the wonderful team of doctors at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital and my dear Tina Ambani.”

People on Twitter wished her good luck and a long and healthy life, telling her that god will watch over her, and voiced their relief at her survival and her well being and asked her to stay strong in the near future.

Post the accident, Shabana had been admitted to MGM Hospital in Panvel and was later referred to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.

Her SUV was severely damaged as a result of the impact. Shabana and her driver were both injured in the accident. Javed Akhtar, who was also travelling in the car, was not injured.(UNI)
