Sensex rises more than 200 points.
MUMBAI, MAY 16 : The BSE Sensex on Thursday smartly recovered 210 points at 73,191.59 in the opening session following gains in IT, utilities, and energy stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 29 points to 22,229.25.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,330 and 22,225.85 points, respectively.
The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 73,396.73 and 73,111.23 points, respectively.
The midcap increased by 0.64 pc and the small cap by 0.67 pc.
In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 2.90 pc to Rs 1349.85, HCL Technology by 1.63 pc to Rs 1355.30, Tech Mahindra by 1.54 pc to Rs 1294.20 and Infosys by 1.46 pc to Rs 1441.45.
The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.47 pc to Rs 12587.30, Powergrid by 0.95 pc to Rs 312, Tata Motors by 0.94 pc to Rs 938.30 and Nestle India Ltd by 0.77 pc to Rs 2447.35.(UNI)
