Mumbai, April 23 : The BSE Sensex on Friday tumbled down 217 pts to open at 47,863.81 as selling was seen in FMCG, Health Care, IT, Auto and Technology stocks.

The Nifty too declined by 80 pts to 14,326.35.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 48,125.57 and 47,743.43 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 14,425.65 and 14,319.05 respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.73 pc and Small Cap by 1.09 pc.

In 30 scrips 15 advanced while 15 declined.

The losers were Hind Unilever by 1.44 pc to Rs 2316.05, M & M by 1.01 pc to Rs 791.55, Nestle India by 0.86 pc to Rs 16,635.10, Bajaj Auto by 0.84 pc to Rs 3650.70 and Dr Reddy by 0.77 pc to Rs 5159.65.

The gainers were Powergrid by 4.17 pc to Rs 212.10, NTPC by 2.12 pc to Rs 101.30, Bajaj Finserv by 1.88 pc to Rs 10,040.10, Axis Bank by 1.74 pc to Rs 670.30 and IndusInd Bank by 1.71 pc to Rs 850.(UNI)
