Send proposal for approval of Aurangabad Zoo, Maha CM to AMC

Aurangabad / Mumbai, Jul 13: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Today directed the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to send a proposal of additional space and funds to the government for approval of Aurangabad Zoo at Mitmita area of the city as soon as possible.
While developing the historical and cultural city of Aurangabad, the zoo should be developed keeping in mind that the tourist destinations within the city like Ellora and Ajanta Caves should be the center of tourist attractions so that tourists visiting Aurangabad should visit it regularly, he was quoted as saying in an official press statement.
At present, the zoo is functioning on 14 acres of land in Siddharth Udyan where due to lack of space in this zoo, work is underway on a 40-hectare zoo as well as the safari park at Mitmita to rectify the shortcomings shown by the Central Zoological Authority (CZA) and provide facilities as per the standards.
This was discussed in today’s meeting, the statement added. (UNI)
