SCR adds the ability to pay using a QR code at ticket counters in every stop.

HYDERABAD, AUG 14 :  South Central Railway (SCR) is advancing its digital payment initiatives to enhance the ease of doing business and reduce cash transactions across its network.

As part of this effort, SCR has introduced a new facility allowing passengers to pay for tickets at general booking and reservation counters using QR (Quick Response) codes. This feature is designed to encourage cashless transactions, eliminating the need for carrying cash or tendering exact change, and enabling quicker ticket purchases, a SCR statement said on Wednesday.

Special devices have been installed at all ticketing counters across the zone, located just outside the ticket windows. Once the ticket details are entered into the system, a QR code is generated for these devices. Passengers can then scan the code using payment apps on their mobile phones. After the payment is confirmed, the ticket is generated and issued to the passenger.

This cashless payment facility, initially implemented at major counters in key stations, is now being extended to all counters across the zone. The necessary devices have been supplied to all stations, and the implementation is already underway, with full coverage expected within a few days.

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of SCR, praised the efforts of the Commercial and Technical Staff for introducing this additional digital payment option, benefiting passengers by making ticket purchases easier and more convenient.

He urged all rail users to take advantage of this new facility to simplify their transactions and avoid the hassle of handling cash.(UNI)
