Sardar Patel COVID-19 care centre to start functioning from Monday: ITBP

New Delhi, April 25 (UNI) The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), which is the nodal agency on Sunday informed that all the preparations for opening the Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre (SPCCC) at Radha Soami Satsang Beas at Chhatarpur in South Delhi have been completed and the facility would start functioning on Monday from 1000 HRS onwards.

In an official statement, the ITBP said, all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the admission of patients to the Oxygenated 500-bed facility at the SPCCC “will be strictly followed and all laid down protocols will also be adhered to”. Here oxygen would be given via oxygen concentrators and oxygen cylinders said a senior ITBP official told UNI.

“Patients will need to be referred by respective District Surveillance Officer (DSO) of respective Delhi Districts. No walk in admission will be made,” the official added.

As per the protocol fixed for the admission, the ITBP said, patients would require to first report at the reception, after initial documentation, their physical examination will be done and then they would be admitted to the care centre at their allotted bed. “A kit will be provided to them after their admission,” it added.

All medical treatment, medicines, food and other facilities will be provided free of cost, the ITBP said, adding that services of stress counsellors will also be provided to the admitted patients.

Earlier the day, the ITBP Director General SS Deswal visited this facility and reviewed the preparation.

Following a request from the Delhi Government for medical officers and paramedical staff from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to man the Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre at Chhatarpur, the Union Home Ministry has designated Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as ‘Nodal Force’ for operating the facility on April 22.

This Covid Care Centre was set up on July 5 last year when Coronavirus cases were reported on a large scale in Delhi and NCR region and had treated over 11,657 were treated in seven and half months.

ITBP on June 24 took over the charge of one of the largest makeshift hospital in the world Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre at Radha Soami Beas at Chattarpur in south Delhi as per the direction of the Union Home Ministry.

More than 1000 Doctors of ITBP and other CAPFs and 2000 more paramedical, assistant and security staffs were deployed at the Centre to run this hospital and care centre.(UNI)
