RSS activists lend help with Pune NGO to families of Covid-19 victims in cremation

Pune, April 22 :  In view of heavy crowds gathering at various cremotorium grounds in the city, the activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) together with local NGO Creative Foundation have started helping the families of the deceased persons, died of Covid-19, in performing the last rites.
Talking to UNI, Creative Foundation chairman Sandeep Khardekar said, “After seeing large number of dead bodies at many places, we, along with RSS workers, have approached the civic authorities and expressed our desire to extend help to the families of deceased persons in performing the last rites. We have started distributing PPE kits and other materials required for last rites to every crematorium ground in Pune.”
Many social organisations, including Charanjit Sahani Friends, have also joined in noble initiative later, he informed.
Mr Khardekar further said that due to strict curbs being imposed in Maharashtra and new norms on attending funerals, the families of deceased are facing lots of crisis, especially when persons are dying in large numbers due to Covid-19.
“We are coordinating with hospital authorities, family members of corona victims and the staff of crematorium grounds before taking any decision,” he added.(UNI)
