Revanth Reddy demands TRS MLA’s son arrest
Hyderabad, Jan 6 : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MP, A Revanth Reddy Today demanded the immediate arrest of Vanama Raghavendra Rao, son of TRS Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateshwara Rao, for allegedly abetting a family to commit suicide.
Mr Reddy also demanded a Judicial inquiry into it.
He also asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar to immediately suspend Kothagudem MLA from the TRS party.
On Monday, Kothagudem police have found a video and a suicide note left by M Naga Ramakrishna, a businessman, who immolated himself along with his wife after setting ablaze their 13-year-old twin daughters at Paloncha town in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.
Police submitted the evidence before the court and they are looking for Raghavendra, who is also a pink party leader, against whom an abetment to suicide case was registered based on the suicide note of Ramakrishna.
Ramakrishna, his wife and their daughter were charred to death in the suicide pact and the couple’s second daughter Sahiti is battling for life with 80 per cent burns.
The TPCC Chief, who is in quarantine at his residence in Jubilee Hills after he was found Covid positive, issued a video statement here , expressing anger and disappointment over lack of action against the TRS MLA’s son Raghavendra Rao.
He said that the police initially tried to hush-up the matter by citing financial problems as the reason for the suicide pact. However, the police was forced to register an FIR against TRS MLA’s son after they found a suicide note left by the victim.
Mr Reddy said even after three days, police was yet to arrest Raghavendra and others, who drove the entire family to commit suicide.
The TPCC Chief pointed out that a selfie-video has surfaced on social media in which the victim, Ramakrishna, made shocking accusations against TRS MLA and his son.
In the video, Ramakrishna alleged that Raghavendra Rao asked him ‘to bring his wife to Hyderabad to settle a financial dispute’. Felt humiliated, he resorted to the extreme step of committing mass suicide along with wife and twin daughters.
Ramakrishna specifically said, “No man would like to hear such words about his wife from a third person and I was shell shocked. I’m a common man and I can’t fight against this corrupt leader, so I’m taking this drastic decision.”
Mr Reddy said Ramakrishna’s video clearly exposed that how the ruling TRS party leaders were misusing power and harassing common people to the extent that they are preferring death over mental torture and humiliation.
“The suicide by Ramakrishna and his family shows that the common people are feeling helpless under TRS regime with some of them going to the extent of taking their own lives to protect their dignity and honour. Such things cannot be tolerated anymore,” he said.
The TPCC Chief said that the Chief Minister did not even condemn the incident or gave oral assurance of taking action on this issue.(UNI)
