Ramesh Chennithala says UDF will introspect election defeat
Thiruvananthapuram, May 2 : Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday said Congress-led UDF will do an introspection on the setback in the Assembly elections.
“We accept and respect the mandate of the public. UDF and Congress will remain at forefront for the people and state as always. Congrats to all the winners,” the Opposition leader said in a message.
In a tweet, he also congratulated DMK leader MK Stalin who is set to become the next CM of Tamil Nadu as his party is leading majority seats in the Assembly elections.
“Congratulations @mkstalin for leading the secular progressive alliance to a huge victory in Tamil Nadu. Wishing you the best to fulfill the aspirations of Tamil Nadu,” Chennithala tweeted.
The Opposition leader who won from Haripad seat said the he was gracefully accepting the verdict, but will pursue the allegations against the Vijayan government.
“We did not expect this sort of result. Just because of the poll victory, issues like corruption will not be washed away,” he added.
Former chief minister and AICC general secretary Oommen Chandy said “We are not sad by the present defeat as we see this as a challenge.”(UNI)
