Rajendranath Reddy takes charge as AP DGP
Vijayawada, Feb 19 :Mr K V Rajendranath Reddy took charge as Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police at the DGP office in Mangalagiri near here on Saturday. He took charge from the outgoing DGP Mr Gautam Sawang. A programme was held in the sixth battalion of APSP to give farewell to Mr Sawang and welcome Mr Rajendranath Reddy. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rajendranath Reddy underlined the importance of winning the confidence of people by the police and asked the Superintendents of Police of all districts to win the confidence of the people. “People have the highest level of trust in the police system. Whoever makes a mistake will bring disrepute to the entire police system, the new DGP said. He said there is no need to worry about false allegations and added it will be investigated at the highest level and the police should act as per the constitution guidelines”. Later talking to media, Mr Reddy said that he would take stringent steps to check the red sander smuggling and cultivation and illegal transportation of ganja. Mr Sawang said that he had striven hard to bring changes in the police system. He said that he had taken steps to ensure that the police reached out to people. Disha App was created to provide help to the girls and women within a short time, Mr Sawang claimed. “I have completed 36 years of service in the police department. I was the DGP of AP state for two years and eight months. I thank Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving me an opportunity to work as the state DGP”, he added. (UNI)
