Rajasthan shivers with coldest temperature

Pune, Jan 3 : The lowest minimum temperature 3.4°C was recorded at Churu in west Rajasthan, the IMD said Today.

At 0830 hours of Monday, dense to very dense fog was observed at many places in east Uttar Pradesh.

Shallow to moderate fog prevailed at many places over Delhi, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and at isolated pockets over west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, north Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam and Meghalaya.

During the same time period, following visibility (in metre) was recorded at Sultanpur, Varanasi(Babatpur)-25 each; Bahraich-50; Safdarjung(Delhi), Varanasi, Daltonganj, Cooch Behar, Dhubri, Agartala, Kailashahar, Imphal-200.

Night temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at a few places over Saurashtra and Kutch.

They were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Gujarat region, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Madhya Maharashtra; at a few places over Konkan, Goa and coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil, Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, west Madhya Pradesh and east Rajasthan.

They were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Andaman, Nicobar Islands, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema and Marathwada; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at isolated places over Odisha, north interior Karnataka and east Madhya Pradesh.

They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.1°C) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and near normal over rest parts of the country.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at a few places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Jammu-Kasmir and Ladakh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kuch, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalseema, coastal Karnataka, interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.(UNI)
