Rahman turns 55, music and film world shower love
Mumbai, Jan 6 : Music maestro A R Rahman, who turned 55 Today, was flooded with birthday greetings on social media, including from Madhuri Dixit, and superstar Mohanlal.
Rahman thanked his admirers, fans and colleagues for the warm wishes.
Born on January 6, 1967, Rahman, born AS Dileep Kumar and nicknamed “Isai Puyal” and the “Mozart of Madras,” is one of the best known music composers in India.
Primarily working in Hindi and Tamil films, he is the recipient of multiple awards, including Padma Bhushan, six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA award, 15 Filmfare awards, a Golden Globe Award, as well as 15 Filmfare Awards for Southern movies.
On his 55th birthday, fans and admirers – ranging from average citizens to celebrities and even organizations such as Disney+ Hotstar and Red Chilies Entertainment, took to social media to wish the legendary composer Happy Birthday.
Madhuri Dixit Nene in a tweet said: “Birthday greetings to the legend

Southern superstar Mohanlal in a tweet said: “Wishing the musical legend @arrahman a very happy birthday…It was a pleasure having you onboard our upcoming movie #Aaraattu.

Telugu cinema actor Mahesh Babu in a tweet said: “Wishing the music legend @arrahman a very happy birthday! Great health and happiness always.”
Anirudh Ravichander, music composer and singer in Indian Film Industry, in a tweet said: “Happy birthday dearest @arrahman sir love you” with an emoji of a heart.
AR Rahman, in his thank you tweet, said he would be hosting a Q & A session at 6 pm IST on YouTube.

The composer is primarily known for his score in Tamil films such as “Roja”, “Bombay”, “Iruvar”, Hindi films such as “Lagaan”, “Legend of Bhagat Singh”, “Swades”, “Bose: The Forgotten Hero” as well as making the scores of Hollywood movies such as “Slumdog Millionaire”, “Million Dollar Arm” etc.
Rahman is known for his unique composition style marked by experimentation, which includes improvisation combined with amalgamation of Western and Hindustani classical, as well as film, rock, Qawwalli and fusion elements with unorthodox arrangements and big productions.
Rahman introduced 7.1 surround sound technology in Indian films and has sold over 150 million records worldwide. He is currently working on his cinematic debut “Le Musk,” where he has further worked as writer, as well as the composer.
The living legend, who converted his religion into Islam after meeting a Sufi saint, shares his birthday with his son Ameen.
