Property worth cr of rupees destroyed in south Kashmir fire
Anantnag, April 8:Property worth crores of rupees has been destroyed in a devastating fire in the south Kashmir district of Kulgam, official sources said.
The fire broke out in a house at Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam in the wee hours of Thursday. However, before the fire tenders could reach the spot, locals joined the fire extinguishing operation but the fire spread to a nearby house.
About six houses and other household property worth crores of rupees have been damaged in the fire. However, there was no report of any loss of life or injury in the incident.
Sources said the cause of the fire was being ascertained adding police has registered a case and initiated an investigation.
There were over half a dozen fire incidents in the Kashmir valley destroying houses, shops, and other property besides claiming the lives of a woman and her minor son recently. Besides about a dozen persons were injured during a fire fighting operation downtown.(UNI)
