Proceedings of Parliament & State Assemblies to be brought on one digital platform: LS Speaker

New Delhi, Jul 12: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Today said that preparations are underway to bring proceedings of Parliament and all state assemblies on a single digital platform, and a live telecast of the proceedings of the Houses can be seen on Mobile App.

Briefing media ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, he said that proceedings and material of various state legislatures in the country would also be linked to this digital platform later on.

Replying to a question, Mr. Birla said that an e-Vidhan committee under the chairmanship of Speaker of Assam Assembly Hitesh Goswami was asked to submit a report in this regard at the Presiding Officers’ conference held in Dehradun. Mr. Goswami has submitted his report that would be taken up for consideration and approval during the next meeting after August 15.

Meanwhile, an action plan has been prepared to implement this proposal after approval by the Presiding Officers conference.

He also informed that the proceedings of the 11th to 17th Lok Sabha have now been added on this digital platform whereas the proceedings and documents right from the year 1854 to 10th Lok Sabha will be added soon. This will include material like questions and answers, reports and later on, there is also a plan to add the old proceedings of state assemblies too.

“This platform will be useful for MPs, concerned officials and the media where the contents of proceedings can be found by name and date too”, Mr. Birla said.

He also said that MPs were being encouraged to file e-notices and questions and in the last session, around 92 percent of members gave e-notices and questions online. This time it is expected to be 100 percent, he added. (UNI)
