BHUBANESWAR, SEP 19 : Eminent Odia fiction writer Dr Gourahari Das will receive the 43rd edition of the prestigious Sarala Puraskar for his short-story collection “Bagha O Anyanya Galpa.

Das will receive a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh along with a citation at the 43rd Sarala Puraskar award-giving ceremony to be held here on October 26 next.

The award is given by IMPaCT, a charitable wing of the Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd. in recognition of Odia literature.

London-based eminent painter and writer Sri Prafulla Mohanti and Odissi music Guru Sri Ghanshyam Panda will also be honoured with ‘Ila-Bansidhar Panda Kala Samman’ for their valuable contribution in the field of art and music, respectively.

Both of them will receive a cash award of Rs. 1.5 lakh each and citations.

The annual Sarala Puraskar, instituted by eminent Odia industrialist Dr Bansidhar Panda and his wife Ila Pandain in 1980, has been given by the Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT ).(UNI)
