Eluru, Aug 26 :The police seized 807.7 KGs of Ganja worth Rs 16 lakh while being transported illegally in a lorry at Devarapalli village on the national highway in West Godavari district in AP.
Kovvuru DSP B Trinath told the media that on a tip-off, a police team led by Devarapalli SI K Srihari Rao conducted checking of vehicles near tobacco board office at Devarapalli.
The police team inspected a lorry and found 26 plastic bags containing ganja. The DSP said that 807.7 KGs of ganja worth Rs.16,14,000 was being transported to Madurai in Tamil Naidu via Annavaram and Devarapalli.
The police seized the ganja, lorry and arrested the four accused, P Suresh, Raman Prabhakaran, Suresh Hariharan and Bala Subramanyam. The accused would be produced before the court, the DSP said.(UNI)
