Police force should equip itself with emerging technology like AI without delay : Sawang

Hyderabad, Dec 1 : Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Gautam Sawang made a strong reference to the interface between Law, Technology and Academia and said that the use of Artificial Intelligence should lead to Smart Policing.

Speaking after inaugurating a three-day online Certificate Programme on “Artificial Intelligence for Smart Policing” jointly organized by NALSAR University of Law and Centre for Human Security Studies (CHSS), here on Wednesday, Mr Sawang highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence and how efforts can be made to learn and understand the use of AI technology.

He opined that the modus operandi of Police and the interface with the technology is not a new thing but at the same time the Police force should equip itself with an emerging technology like Artificial Intelligence without any further delay.

The DGP observed that the Global Artificial Intelligence race is not in favour of India at this movement, when compared to China, the US and some of the western countries.

Mr Sawang said that this programme is very topical and significant in terms of National Security Architecture.

He lauded the joint efforts of NALSAR and CHSS for bringing various stakeholders together and for introducing such a wonderful programme which is first of its kind in India.

Earlier Prof V Balakista Reddy Registrar, NALSAR University of Law has welcomed the AP DGP and other participants of the certificate programme.(UNI)
