Police arrest three for attacking BJP leader in Shivamogga
Shivamogga, July 12 : Karnataka Police on Tuesday apprehended three people in connection with a brutal attack on a local BJP leader Kantharaju in the district.
The victim was attacked on Monday by unidentified persons and was immediately rushed to the district hospital, the police said.
As many as five persons attacked Kantharaju, of which two have been identified as Junaid and Sohim, it added.
“We have already arrested three accused and are investigating the involvement of others in the case. They will be arrested soon,” Shivamogga SP Lakshmi Prasad told reporters here.
The BJP leader was attacked with sharp weapons, he added.
Initial investigation revealed that Kantharaju was attacked due to financial issues but later it was ascertained that it was due to his previous affiliation with the Bajrang Dal.
Following the attack, Kote police station initiated a manhunt for arresting the remaining accused in the matter. (UNI)
