Vijayawada, Jun 10 : Andhra Pradesh Minister for Water Resources P Anil Kumar Yadav said that the Polavaram irrigation project works were being carried out even in the Covid-19 pandemic situation aiming to provide water by 2022 Kharif. The Polavaram project is being constructed across the river Godavari in West Godavari district.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Minister said that almost over 3000 people were working at the project to complete the work on time risking their lives, as five officials working on the project site had died due to Covid.
The Minister said one has to appreciate the officials and workers for continuing the project works despite of Covid crisis. He said that the Chief Minister would discuss the funding of Polavaram project with the Union Minister concerned in his Delhi visit.
Mr Anil Kumar Yadav assured that all measures were being taken to rehabilitate the 17,000 displaced families being affected by the project construction in a phased manner. He said that the Opposition leaders had no right to speak on the Polavaram project, as they were trying to blame the government by rubbing their mistakes.(UNI)
