PM to visit Bihar to conclude Assembly centenary celebrations

Patna, July 11 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive Bihar on Tuesday on a short visit to attend a function marking the end of the state Assembly centenary celebrations.

Prime Minister Modi will arrive at Patna Airport around 5 PM and reach Bihar Assembly premises to attend the concluding function of its centenary celebrations.

Apart from unveiling the ‘shatabadi stambh’ (centenary pillar) on Assembly premises, PM will also lay the foundation stone of the proposed centenary museum which would have living glimpses of hundred years of its journey marking major events and achievements.

President Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone of ‘shatabdi stambh’ in October last year during his visit to attend centenary celebrations. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended centenary celebrations in February this year.

PM will also plant a sapling of ‘ Kalptaru’ and open the Centenary memorial garden. He is scheduled to return to New Delhi around 7 PM on Tuesday.

Special Protection Group (SPG) has already taken over the security arrangements of the venue. Bihar police under the supervision of Chief Secretary and DGP have made tight security arrangements for PM as per strict guidelines of SPG.

Senior civil and police officials visited the venue to supervise security and other arrangements for the visit of Prime Minister.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself visited the venue on Monday and directed the officials for final touches on the arrangements made for PM’s visit.

Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha also briefed Chief Minister Kumar about arrangements made for visit of PM Modi.

Speaker Sinha said that visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be historic. It was for the first time that any Prime Minister would be arriving in Assembly to attend a function, he added. No other PM had ever visited Bihar Assembly earlier, he remarked.

He also expressed his gratitude to PM to accept the invitation to attend the function to mark the end of centenary celebrations.(UNI)
