PM should have met agitating farmers
Mumbai, Mar 12 : The NCP Today criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not meeting the farmers protesting at the Delhi borders since November 26 last year, seeking a roll-back of the three contentious farm laws.
Party chief Spokesperson NCP Mahesh Tapase said Mr Modi should have met the agitating farmers which would have an apt tribute to the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi.
Mr Tapase, in a statement, said that the Gandhiji stood by the peasants and workers of this country and on 12th March in 1930, organised the iconic ‘Dandi March’ against the Britishers.
Had Mahatma Gandhi been alive today he would have been on the forefront along with the agitating farmers who are camping at the borders of New Delhi for more than 100 days, he added.
He would have made the Modi government ‘kneel’ in front of the farmers and forced them to roll-back the new draconian farm bills which the Centre passed without any discussion in Parliament, the NCP leader said.
The Prime Minister should have visited the farmers as a real tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and a true remembrance of the iconic Dandi March, he concluded.(UNI)
