PM made a political speech in Parliament: Kharge
New Delhi, Feb 8 : Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge Today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address was a political speech for the poll-bound states, and not a vision document of the government, as it was supposed to be. “PM in his reply did not talk about any issues or answered the questions we raised. He only attacked the Congress in his speech,” Kharge said. The Congress had staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha after the Prime Minister’s reply on Motion of Thanks to the President’s Speech. “The Prime Minister made an election speech keeping in mind the elections in five states, it was not a reply on President’s address,” he said. He said while PM Modi blamed the Congress for the migrant workers’ exodus witnessed in the first wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the reply by a Minister of the government said over 63 lakh migrant workers used the Shramik Special trains. “People were in trouble. They had no shelter, food, water or clothes. Where would they have gone? Was helping them a mistake? As a Prime Minister, it’s not right to cover up your mistakes by taunting others,” Kharge said. He also slammed the government for not having the exact figures on Covid deaths. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had alleged in his reply to Motion of Thanks of the President’s speech that Congress had instigated migrant workers to go back to their villages, and given them free tickets.
