Vellore, April 18 : Three people, including two children, were charred to death in a fire at a cracker shop at Latheri bus stand in this district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

Police sources said the fire broke out in the afternoon and soon the entire shop was gutted, trapping the shop owner Mohan and his two grand children–Tejas and Danush. All the three died on the spot.

A thick smoke engulfed the area in view of the blaze. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot, retrieved the bodies and sent to the government hospital for autopsy. Senior officials, including Katpadi DSP visited the spot and held preliminary inquiries.

Some two-wheelers parked in front of the shop were also gutted in the fire .(UNI)
