Oppn demands sacking of MoS Home, LS adjourned for the day
New Delhi, Dec 15 : The proceedings of Lok Sabha were disrupted Today after days of smooth functioning as opposition MPs demanded sacking of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, after an SIT report said the incident was a planned conspiracy.
As soon as the House met for the day, opposition members raised the demand for sacking of the Minister, whose son Ashish Mishra was among 13 accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
Opposition MPs raised slogans and showed placards demanding the sacking of the Minister. MPs also trooped near the Speaker’s podium raising their demands.
Around 1130 am, the House was adjourned till 2 pm.
When the Lok Sabha met at 2 pm, the Opposition protest continued. The Chair adjourned the House for the day within minutes of meeting.
Later, talking to media in the Parliament complex, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said opposition wanted to discuss the incident, and demanded the sacking of Minister.
“We want a discussion on Lakhimpur Kheri in Parliament. It has been said that it was a conspiracy, a Minister is involved. We want the Minister to resign,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra was among the 13 accused in the incident, in which four farmers and a journalist were killed after being run over by cars belonging to the Minister’s convoy. Ashish was allegedly driving one of the vehicles, which ran over the farmers.
Three people from the Minister’s convoy were also killed.
A Special Investigation Team, in its report, has said the accused should be charged with attempt to murder. It also said the incident was a pre-planned conspiracy. Rahul Gandhi had also submitted an adjournment motion in the House to discuss the issue.(UNI)
