On March 4, the PM will launch the Ambari, Adilabad, and Pilpalkhuti electricity project.

HYDERABAD, MAR 3   :    Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate the Ambari-Adilabad-Pimpalkhuti Electrification Project to the nation on March 4 at Adilabad in Telangana.

This initiative is part of the larger Mudkhed-Pimpalkhuti Electrification Works Project, sanctioned for 182 Route Kms in 2017-18 at an estimated cost of Rs. 206 crores, a South Central Railway (SCR) statement said on Sunday.

The electrification of the 58-kilometer (71-track km) Ambari-Adilabad-Pimpalkhuti section has been completed at an approximate cost of Rs. 70 crore.

Spanning across the backward districts of Adilabad in the Northern Telangana Region and portions of Nanded and Yavatmal districts in Maharashtra, this section serves as a crucial link towards Nagpur and other parts of Maharashtra.

Connecting Hyderabad and Secunderabad to Nagpur (via Nizamabad) and beyond, this railway line’s electrification enhances seamless rail connectivity. It facilitates swift transportation from Adilabad to Hyderabad or Secunderabad, Bengaluru in the south, and Nagpur in the north, reducing the average speed of both passenger and freight trains.

Additionally, electrification contributes to environmental conservation by eliminating diesel-fueled trains, resulting in cost savings and aiding the agricultural sector in Adilabad and surrounding areas.

Telangana has witnessed substantial rail developmental activities, with rail infrastructure expanding rapidly due to a significant increase in state investment.

Over the last decade, rail budget allocations for Telangana surged nearly 20 times, from Rs. 258 crore in 2014–15 to Rs. 5,071 crore in 2024–25. This growth has played a crucial role in electrifying the entire railway network in Telangana as part of the ‘Mission Electrification,’ covering a massive 1,753 track km in the last 10 years, the statement added.(UNI)
