Omicron: Mumbai Airport issues fresh guidelines for international travellers

Mumbai, Dec 1 :The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) here Today issued its latest Covid-19 guidelines for international travellers arriving in the country, following the outbreak of new variant, Omicron.
The guidelines were issued by the Union Ministry of Health on November 28, following the concern showed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) towards the rising number of Omicron patients across the world.
The foreigners travelling to India would have to submit a self-declaration form along with their travel details for the last 14 days, a copy of their passport and RT-PCR negative report of Covid-19, not exceeding 72 hours, said a spokesperson of the health Ministry, adding that children below the age of five years are exempted from both pre-arrival and post-arrival tests.
If any symptoms were found in children, they would be quarantined. According to the spokesperson, passengers have been advised to get complete information on the website adaniairports.com before travelling. For the safety and convenience of the passengers arriving at the Mumbai International Airport, additional testing and resting arrangements have been made, he added.
Large waiting room and seating arrangement has been done with necessary facilities. Additional counters and booths have been opened for registration and sampling, while more number of ground staff have been arranged to handle and protect the international passengers.
The spokesperson said that as per the latest instructions issued by the state government, passengers coming from the new variant-affected countries of Corona would have to compulsorily undergo a seven-day quarantine and RT-PCR test.

Those passengers would be subjected to RT-PCR test on the second, fourth and seventh day, they would be sent to the hospital immediately after the report comes positive. If all the tests come negative, the passenger would have to undergo another seven days home quarantine.
Passengers from other countries would have to compulsorily undergo RTPCR test at Mumbai airport and undergo 14-day home quarantine if negative reports come. If found positive, they would be shifted to the hospital, added the spokesperson.
He said 48 registration counters and 40 sampling booths have been opened at the airport. International arrivals have adequate RT-PCR testing facilities, as four laboratories have been set up for this, he added.(UNI)
