Odisha vigilance unearths huge assets from an Assistant Engineer

Bhubaneswar, July 12 : Sleuths of Odisha Vigilance department on Tuesday unearthed a huge quantity of disproportionate assets of an Assistant Engineer of the Rural Development department.

Vigilance sources here said on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets Dusmanta Dehury, Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Nimapara in Puri district, simultaneous house searches are being conducted by Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 12 Inspectors and other staff at seven places.

So far the Vigilance sleuths have unearthed 28 plots including 7 plots in the prime area of Bhubaneswar and 21 plots in the prime area of Dhenkanal worth Approximately Rs 1.45 Crore and cash of Rs 1.58 Lakh.

One triple storied building at Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, Two single-storied buildings at Dhenkanal town, One single storied building at village Gunadei, in Dhenkanal district, were found in the possession of the engineer.

The Vigilance Technical Wing is carrying out detailed measurements and assessments of the buildings.

Bank & Insurance deposits worth over Rs 47.65 Lakh, One four-wheeler worth Rs 11,00,000 and two-wheelers have also been unearthed.

In another case, the vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Kuni Naik, ICDS Supervisor Rodh sector and I/C Bharsuja sector under Agalpur block in Bolangir district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 19,800 from six Anganwadi workers out of the contingency and other funds received by them for running the Anganwadi centres.(UNI)
