‘Numaish’ canceled due to Omicron variant
Hyderabad, Jan 7 :The 81st edition of the All India Industrial Exhibition, popularly known in local parlance as “Numaish” has been cancelled owing to rapid increase of COVID-19 new variant Omicron cases.
The cancellation followed a notice from the City Police Commissioner C.V.Anand directing the exhibition society to close down the exhibition forthwith.
The city’s most popular annual event, “Numaish”, comprising scores of stalls selling a variety of goods besides food joints from different parts of the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, was to last for 45 days attracting hundreds of people on a daily basis.
Society sources said that deposits collected from the stall owners will be refunded if they applied for it.
Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan had inaugurated the “Numaish” on January one.
However, a day after the inauguration, the state government issued orders to close down the “numaish” till January 10 due to rise in Omicron cases.(UNI)
