Malappuram, April 29 : United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate from Nilambur Assembly Constituency V V Prakash died of a heart attack early today.

He was 56.

Prakash, also the Malappuram District Congress Committee (DCC) President, was admitted initially at a local hospital in Edakkara and was later shifted to a hospital in Manjeri after he suffered cardiac issues on Wednesday midnight.

He was the state general secretary of the Youth Congress and district general secretary of Congress party prior to becoming the DCC president.

Controversial businessman and present MLA from Nilambur P V Anwar of the CPI (M) is the LDF opponent to Prakash. The election was held on April 6 and the counting of votes will be taken up on May 2.

The body will be kept at the DCC office before taking to his home town Edakkara for performing last rites at 3 PM this afternoon.(UNI)
