nCoV: 147 new cases, one death in UT in past 24 hours

Puducherry, Jul 3:As many as 147 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus and one died since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM Today, taking the tally of COVID-19 infection cases to 1,17,787 and death toll to 1,760 in the Union Territory.

According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 7,708 swab sample tests conducted on Friday,147 persons were tested positive for the virus.

About 103 new cases were in the Puducherry region, 34 in the Karaikal region, three in the Yanam region, and seven in the Mahe region.

In the last 24 hours, 271 persons were discharged. Of them, 217 were from the Puducherry region, 35 from the Karaikal region, 9 from the Yanam region, and 10 from the Mahe region.

Presently, 224 patients are being treated in the Puducherry region, 36 in the Karaikal region,17 in the Yanam region, and 29 in the Mahe region. Another 1,801 persons diagnosed positive for COVID-19 are under home isolation and taking treatment in all four regions of the UT.

So far, 1,17,787 persons were infected by Coronavirus and of which 1,13,920 patients were treated and discharged, 1,760 people died and 2,107 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.

A 54-year-old woman Najmunisha, with type 2 Diabetes succumbed to the government medical college here yesterday due to Covid Pneumonia and ARDS.

The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 1.91 percent, the case fatality rate is 1.49 percent and the recovery rate is 97.72 percent.

As many as 5,12,428 persons including healthcare workers, frontline workers, and the general public were given COVID vaccine in the Union Territory so far. (UNI)
