National Highway works in Telangana going in speedy manner: Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad, Dec 19:Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy Today said that the National Highway (NH) works in Telangana were progressing in a speedy manner.
Speaking to newsmen at the BJP state headquarters here, Mr Reddy, while elaborating National Highway works in the state said, about 274 kms NHs construction works was taken up with an expenditure of Rs 7,040 crore and it would be completed soon.
The Minister, who had conducted review meetings frequently with the officials for the completion of NH works in the state asked the government to speed up the land acquisition works.
He said that the Centre has also sanctioned 336 km NHs with the expenditure of Rs 8,563 crore this year. The tender process was completed and the works will be taken up very soon.
Mr Reddy said that the Centre has also targeted to come up with 865 km of NHs, including Regional Ring Road (RRR) in Telangana with the expenditure of Rs 23,000 crore in 2022.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will be inaugurating NHs which were completed and lay the foundation stones for new NHs once after completion of ongoing Parliament session, he added.
He said that the RRR which will be constructed from the funds of the Central Government will be a game changer for the sate. It will pave way to create new satellite towns, new colonies. The construction activities will also take place in a big way, the Minister said.
Mr Reddy stated that several districts will be connected with the RRR. Industrial, IT development will also take place. Middle and low income people are able to get housing sites, he said.
The Minister said that the dry port which will be constructed will be located close to RRR and will be very useful to export oriented products speedily.(UNI)
