Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly byelection: 31 pc polling recorded till 11 am

Hyderabad, April 17: Around 31 per cent polling was recorded in the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly byelection till 1100 hours on Saturday, Election Officials here said.

Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency had always witnessed a high voter turnout.

It was 86.62 per cent polling in the 2018 election in which TRS candidate Nomula Narsimhaiah defeated Congress veteran K Jana Reddy while in the 2014 election, the total voting percentage was 80.03 per cent.

In the election, Mr. Jana Reddy defeated Nomula Narsimhaiah.

The polling will continue up to 7 PM as Covid-19 patients will be allowed between 6 PM and 7 Pm to cast their vote.

The counting of votes will be taken up on May 2.

There are 2.20 lakh voters in the constituency and 246 polling stations were established.

The polling is going on peacefully.

The bypoll was necessitated following the death of TRS sitting MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah in December last year. (UNI)
